Very good。 Loved how the author can take you away without leaving your seat with her powerful descriptions of the beautiful island of Croatia。 Also the powerful story of Kate and Alex was one of not just them finding each other but themselves， with powerful sentences that make you question your life and your choices as to whether you are making the right ones for your life。

This book was brilliant a great summer read。 With a wonderful storyline that had the pages turning fast。 It was a great romance story that made you feel nice and warm inside。 It had twist to the plot and made me think all the way until the end。 I would recommend this book and author。 Much praise and would like to thank the author for bringing us this wonderful story。

A great easy read。 I've read a few Isabelle Broom books and have enjoyed them all。 This one is set in Croatia， it's your typical easy to read love story， would be a perfect beach read and I enjoying looking up all the places which looked just as beautiful as the descriptions in the book。 Even though these types of books always have predictable endings it had me hooked to the very last page。 A great easy read。 I've read a few Isabelle Broom books and have enjoyed them all。 This one is set in Croatia， it's your typical easy to read love story， would be a perfect beach read and I enjoying looking up all the places which looked just as beautiful as the descriptions in the book。 Even though these types of books always have predictable endings it had me hooked to the very last page。 。。。more

When we first meet Kate life couldn’t be any crueller。 It seems as if humiliation and failure are being heaped upon her。 I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable for her and even found myself squirming in my chair。 At the back of my mind， I was wondering how they got to that place。 I liked her straight away and wanted a win to come through for her to boost her spirits。Her brother Toby is opening up a hostel in Hvar and is behind schedule and when Kate suggests she helps out so that James can see he When we first meet Kate life couldn’t be any crueller。 It seems as if humiliation and failure are being heaped upon her。 I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable for her and even found myself squirming in my chair。 At the back of my mind， I was wondering how they got to that place。 I liked her straight away and wanted a win to come through for her to boost her spirits。Her brother Toby is opening up a hostel in Hvar and is behind schedule and when Kate suggests she helps out so that James can see he really does need her， Toby is behind her 100%。And WOW， Hvar and the Pakleni Islands are fabulous。 Isabelle Broom’s settings always totally transport me to another place， another country， but The Getaway beats them all hands down。 Beautiful， just beautiful。 I can guarantee you will feel like you’re there too。On Kate’s first day， at Toby’s recommendation， she goes off to explore Jerolim on her own。 And what a hoot！ There’s a really funny scene that had me chortling （and even now as I’m writing this）。 Kate is， of course， mortified 🙂 There’s another scene too that had me belly laughing …Something clicked for me at the end of Part One and tied up something I had been puzzling over。 And I knew something wasn’t quite right but couldn’t think what it was。 Of course it all makes sense once you know！I loved the interior design thread running through the story。 That’s another thing Isabelle Broom is good at， the occupations of her characters。“In the far distance， the large red bulb of the sun was about to plant itself into the bed of night 。” Love this sentence。When you can’t quite remember something， this is how it feels isn’t it:“A memory tugged， but it was too quiet; and even as she felt it， it was gone， had slipped back into the misty corners of her subconscious。”I LOVED Kate realising she is capable and has many strengths and begins to trust herself。 I also loved the romance。 The friendship。 And the depth of feelings。So much to love about this story！If you can’t fly away this year， this is the perfect antidote。 The Getaway is the perfect summer read。 Highly recommended。https://www。jerasjamboree。co。uk/book-。。。 。。。more

I have never disliked any of Isabelle Broom’s books and I was eagerly waiting for this one to hit my door mat。 For those of you not familiar with Isabelle’s writing， her stories are like mini travel guides – you will need your phone to hand as you read her books as you will have an itching desire to Google the various places she mentions。 This one was no different。 When Kate’s life goes a bit pear-shaped， she is inspired by an article she reads in a trashy magazine to just take herself away for I have never disliked any of Isabelle Broom’s books and I was eagerly waiting for this one to hit my door mat。 For those of you not familiar with Isabelle’s writing， her stories are like mini travel guides – you will need your phone to hand as you read her books as you will have an itching desire to Google the various places she mentions。 This one was no different。 When Kate’s life goes a bit pear-shaped， she is inspired by an article she reads in a trashy magazine to just take herself away for a few weeks to make someone miss her。 What she doesn’t expect is that in doing so， she finds the real her。 Set in Hvar， Croatia， this book has sun， sea and cocktails galore and is a glorious book to read on a summery day – especially when you’re suffering from a severe bout of Wanderlust！ I was transported to the dusty coast paths， I could hear to gorgeous blue sea， I could feel the sun on my skin…。actually， I could feel the actual sun on my skin but， still！ Despite various outlets commenting disparagingly about ‘wimmin’s fiction’ in recent weeks， you really cant beat a good read from this genre。 The stories are gritty and tackle real life issues – in this instance it tackles friendship， humiliation， anxiety， loss， depression， being ‘lost’， finding yourself again。 Yes， there is an element of romance in most books in this genre， but the overarching theme is the sense of community， family， support and acceptance and there’s a lot to be said about that。 This book is the perfect antidote to every day life – especially in the middle of a plague。 Is it insulting to call it an easy read？ I hope not – because， in my experience， books that are easy reads and ‘unputdownable’ and offer you an escape from everyday life are very difficult to write well – and that’s exactly what Isabelle does with this book。 This would be perfect to slip into your bag to enjoy on your UK Staycation this year as well as being the perfect book to read during the long， dark winter nights when you are longing to feel the heat of the sun。 Some of the comment Alex makes to Kate about being alone but not lonely and about material objects really resonated with me and made me think。Another FAB read from Isabelle……now hurry up and write the next one！ 。。。more

This is my first Isabelle Broom book， I really enjoyed it the characters were well written and I was hooked from the first paragraph， I will be looking up this authors other books， a perfect summer read。

As always an emotional read from Isabelle Broom。 I loved Kate from the very start - her bravery， her naivety and her trust in people made her so very relatable。 Her escape to Croatia seemed like the perfect plan， the idyllic setting and wonderful characters helped her along her brave journey of self discovery。 Full of twists and emotions， I laughed and cried along with Kate til the very end。
